Recently, I was absolutely awestruck by the Charvet textured "leaves" silk tie featured on both Saks and Neiman Marcus. Starting fresh in a junior position at a IB firm, I figured it is time to refresh my Linkedin profile picture.
Although many insist on solid-plain ties, I feel that Charvet's leaves silk tie could be a fit. Unfortunately, I am stuck between choosing from two different colors: (I figure it's better to just include pictures). While they are both blue, one of the ties appears to have more of a purple hue, while the other has a dark blue with the slightest of a teal hue.

Would it be appropriate to wear either of the two to a job interview? If so, which of the two is the "better" shade.
Also, would you say the same for a Linkedin headshot picture?

Note: Navy suit, Half Windsor knot, Black cap-toe oxfords

Navy/blue is the more appropriate color. I like both, but in the context of something appropriate for an interview, then navy.

if that is you in the shot with the "purple tie", I would tie a better/different knot.

I used the half windsor knot in the picture as opposed to another knot because it's already very large in size since it is a very thick tie. What knot did you have in mind?

A four in hand would be great.
Why is a half-windsor not suitable? Is it because of the collar style? Should I get a larger collar? The one in the picture is a English spread (medium spread, shorter points)
Would a President Spread be better? or Maybe a conservative cutaway?

I would stay away from iridescent Charvet ties for interviews.
Something more matte or subdued is more appropriate.

Half Windsor is fine. I just prefer the Four in Hand however it does not work for all collars either. If your tie is hefty, then you can try a smaller knot. Try a couple of different ones and see which one you like best.

Look for grenadine neckwear. They come in different levels of texture. Get a darker color for a profile pic. Don't wear something that distracts from seeing you. The idea is to highlight you and not what you are wearing.
Tie spread should accommodate your tie knot and the points should be long enough to sit on your chest and under the lapels so you don't see the collar points. When the knot overpowers the shirt collar it creates an awkward imbalance.
