Bought a suit from Suitsupply, it's not good but enough for me now. The problem is the tie, it looks out of date and terrible. I think change a tie and knot could be better. Do u guys have any advice to improve? which knot should I choose? I'm appreciate it if u can show me the picture and how to buy it.

I tie a four in hand knot for all situations.

If you want to pull the suit to a bit more formal look, a black knit tie would work. Generally speaking, striped ties are a bit risky with that suit pattern, but I think your tie actually works decently - perhaps because of all the blues. If the suit's pinstripe was white (more contrast), perhaps the striped tie wouldn't work as well.

Thanks,I'll try a black knit tie to to see if it works. I chose this stripe tie just because the color, I thought it would be harmonious, but it didn't..........lol

I also don't dislike it, but a plain knit or a small simple pattern may look better.

In terms of knot. The four in hand is very sartorial and will be pumped on SF a lot. It is easy to tie, has a little bit of asymmetry (in a good way).

You can also do a Prince Albert (double-four in hand), which will be more rakish. I would not recommend a PA w/ any thick material such as a knit, shantung, etc though.

With that suit - a bold plain red tie with a Windsor knot (see my profile pic) works as a starter. It's safe and works for a variety of suits and shirts. On the suit itself, I would have the sleeve lengths shortened by around 2cm, it will make the world of difference.

My go to knot is a half Windsor.

60% of the time, it works every time.
