I found a very nice Burberry made in USA wool plaid jacket in Manhattan consignment shop for $135 less 20%. It fits very very well through the shoulders, back and waist but it's a 46L and about a half inch too long. Can a sports jacket be shortened and, if so, about how much will this alteration run in NYC. Is it worth it? Sleeves will also need to be shortened.

If it were me I would never pay that much for a Burberry jacket, and the cost of alterations would make it a definite no.However,if it fits that well otherwise and you really like it then it may be worth it to you.If I were selling it,I'd be lucky to get $35,let alone $135.Take a look on B&S and ebay and see what people are getting for them and you'll have your answer, the going rate for a BBGF is about half that.I can't give you an accurate figure for the cost of alterations in NYC,but I'm sure some other members will chime in with some figures for you.

Thanks for the good advice. I might be able to negotiate the price if I decide its worth it to me.
