Thrift store Armani jacket with horrible BO

My wonderful parents scored me a CDN$15 Armani jacket from their local thrift store that fits me perfectly. I really like the cut.

My first time out with the jacket I smelled something a little strange, but it was a quick trip. Next time out was to a warm bar. The jacket started to reek! It smells soooo bad.

I got it drycleaned. No dice. I febreezed the pits. Nothing. It smells ok at first, but starts to emit pit-stink fiercely when worn for more than a few minutes.

Help me. I love the jacket. I can't bear to wear it. I don't want to throw it away, but I need to eliminate the smell forever.

What should I do?

See post # 17 here.

I believe he was talking about pants but if you are fortunate enough to find a turd in the coat, I think Vox will pay the $10!

You'll need to have a tailor strip out all the padding and lining and replace it. If it still stinks try to steam for a long time the stinky parts and then have it dry cleaned again. If still no dice try blasting it with ozone.

There are countless more jackets in thrift stores. Move on. You may even find one better than an Armani. Keep looking, and smell before you buy.

Burning it would be the only solution.

Then if you must use second hand shops take more care before you buy. This problem was evident at the outset

I'm not loving it. I need help! There must be some wonder-chemical out there that will remove BO without destroying the fabric. I don't think replacing the liner will work, the exterior pits smell too.

I'm thinking a full one-day soak in cold water followed by lots of febreeze as it hangs dry. If I'm going to toss it anyway I might as well try something.

So that's where it went. Mail it back to me, please.
