We talk about spending money on StyleForum - on some level the entire site is devoted to spending money. But hey, we love a good deal - or a way to get cheap clothes - as much as everyone else.

Thrift Central

Our thrifting thread rules on two levels: first, it's an excellent guide on how to search for clothes in thrift stores, what brands are sellable and how to quickly spot what might bring a buck on eBay and what doesn't. Second, though, the thread itself as a mini-forum full of characters and its own persistent stories and conversations. There's also an undercurrent of wonderful generosity that's hard to find on the internet: jealous of that Corneliani jacket that someone else found? They'll probably sell it to you at cost (or for at least pennies on the dollar compared to retail).

Vintage Clothing

Vintage clothing - or knowing how vintage clothing works (as strange as that sounds) - is a way to get awesome clothing cheap. If we're talking true vintage - circa 1920s Brooks Brothers jacket - you can run into issues of fit and sizing, but buying clothes that are, say, 40 years old, but still are stylistically current, is a way to take advantage of how well made most clothing was a few decades ago, and their deflated costs. Plus there's lots of cool exotic leathers.

Sales!

Our sales thread is literally one of the most popular threads of the type on any forum, anywhere. When we post up a special Black Friday addition we have tens of thousands of hits. What does it mean? StyleForum is a great place to find what's on sale, where. Join in. Just don't use the thread to plump up your eBay sale store - it's just a **** move.
