Three Classic Menswear Options
Kamakura
If I could bring my digital dreams to flesh, and I was dreaming of a perfect shirt maker, it might be Kamakura. A Japanese brand that follows a simple doctrine: combine classic, Brooks Brothers shirt-tailoring (chunky collar rolls and beefy oxford fabrics) with Japanese finishing and a killer pricepoint. Un-goddamn-believable. Check out their store if you’re in New York or pick up a shirt online. You won’t regret it.
Suitsupply
Suitsupply is a European chain that showed up StyleForum for years through well-dressed European posters in their affordable tailoring. Now, with branches throughout the United States – and a well-done webshop – it’s fast becoming an excellent entry-level tailoring option. The fabrics are generally basic, there are a variety of fit options, and the styling walks the line between trendy and business appropriate. Everyone’s gotta start somewhere, so why not here? It’s better than H&M or J. Crew.
Eidos Napoli
And in the end, it call comes back to Eidos Napoli: the Isaia offshoot (project? stepchild? sartorial experiment?) that the forum has fallen in love with. A combination of classic Italian tailoring – double-vented, soft-shouldered, slim profile, lots of barchetta pockets – and an approachable price-point, the brand has everything a young, ambitious StyleForum poster needs. Impress your friends, and, if you’re daring enough, try a bold overcheck, because woohoo why not!
