Thoughts on this leather jacket

Is anyone familiar with the quality of Guess's genuine leather jackets? And, what do you guys think of the jacket below?

The design is bad and it's poor quality leather that's been further distressed.

I'll admit that I'm not a leather connoisseur . Out of curiosity though, how can you tell that it is poor quality and, furthermore, do you have any recommendations for leather jackets (as in general brands & styles)? I'm looking for a more casual leather jacket of a lighter color as well as a more elegant, black one (my build is slim, European I would say haha) Any links to threads on this site or other reliable sites would be appreciated.
