Thoughts on these Lobbs and Gravati Radica Calf

Cannot decide between these Prices adjusted for trees and shipping. Any advice welcome. JL City II Museum - USD 1,300 Gravati Radica - USD 700

I mean you have Oxford vs. Derby, which I'm sure you've already debated - not really the same type of shoe. I know the Lobb City II's Museum calf is from Ilcea and is as smooth as you're gonna get - absolutely beautiful in person. I want to make little Ilcea leather babies with them. I'm not familiar with Gravati but it sounds like they are a relatively old handmade Italian brand. Which ones do you think are nicer/prettier/will wear better? My vote is for the Lobbs.

Forget about reputation. I like the last better on the Gravati pictured here. The ones I own are extremely comfortable.

This is good advice for guys who are madly in love with Lobbs and considering settling for something else. But I've owned Lobbs/Greens/etc. and continue to buy and enjoy plenty of other makes. If I found Gravatis I liked, I wouldn't think twice before buying them.

Lobb city iis are not as good as people say it is. The leather is fine, and sure, it stands on a high pedestal. But Gravatis are better made in my opinion, even without the GY welting. To start, Gravatis all have full leather insole, while the City iis is only half insoled. If one is to look at the stitching closely on Lobbs, it leaves much to be desired. But the stitching on the Gravatis I have and have seen are consistent and really nicely done. Go for Lobb if you want snob value.

All said, for the models under comparison, I prefer the Lobb last more than the Gravati. But you should really compare the captoe by Gravati to the city ii (oxford to oxford). It is lighter than City ii, has a more rounded toe and a full leather sole. I think it is better value too--you can get two pairs at (425E a pair) for the price of one pair of Lobb!

I have been wearing my CityII for 6 years everyday because I love them so much..

They're my get around shoes...

They still look very good and the leather is still great even if I walked with them on the peebles of my local beach...

I'm a lifetime Berluti, Weston ,Church's and my City II are m favourite shoes ever...

Aesthetically the City II has it, no contest. It looks much nicer than the Gravati you compare it with and also the City I that I had for a while. In terms of build quality and value, well, that's your call.
