Thoughts on my new job

It's been a week and so-far, so-good.

I'm in a fed agency, fwiw, and I like it. I am getting used to a "regular" work schedule of 8-4:30 and that's probably been the wost part.

The job is interesting, my co-workers already seem to appreciate my being there. It's very nice to hear "I'm looking forward to you working with us..." or "I'd like you to join us on this project..." What a change from my previous job where I got a cursory "thanks" at best. And certainly no reciprocation of the occassional crap responsibilities.

I like having a bit more regular schedule and being able to leave work behind. Once we find a place to live in the city, the commute will be much much better too.

All-in-all, it's pretty good. We even get to go on a "field trip" next week. How exciting. Oh, and my building is filled with all sorts of fancy security--more than my friend's office over at the Senate office building. How strange.

Only 29 years and 51 weeks to go.

Did you wear a short sleeve "dress" shirt to fit in ?

Thanks for the update. Good for you. Lazy students and the politics of academia will soon be a distant memory.

You'll probably need to get acquainted with Syms, Ross and Filene's basement.
