Just saw this pair of geoxs for sale

    http://www.shopgeox.com/Item.aspx?ProductID=3473

The shoes were probably the most comfortable i have ever worn.

Concerned about longevity of shoe really, would like to be wearing them for at least the next 7 years ( once a week 3 km walk max)

I know some ppl have posted stuff on geox but not too much light on it.

Anyone have any experience / insight into these guys

I have a bunch of geox shoes.

Like them a great deal. there are other threads here on this topic.

They last reasonably long. I like that my foot breaths in them.

Those would be nice looking shoes if they didn't have "GEOX" stamped into the leather.

I've had may pairs with their stupid Respira technology. They all leak water in. I will never buy another pair again.

Not a concern to you if you do not wear them in the rain or snow.

Do they actually have holes through the sole? Great Googly Moogly!

Yeah, they say they have some patented membrane that works like GoreTex....but it doesn't. They leak. They are quite comfortable when it's sticky, however.

Geox, despite their claims of better breathability, are on the same level of quality as Rockports, ECCO and Clark's. None of these shoes, based on your intended use is going to last 7 years unless you buy a few pair of them and rotate each pairs usage. Of the manufacturers I have just listed, personally I would place Geox 4th.

    Thanks for that.

I hve got that leaky issue frm other threads as well

Does the water drip from the sole down? or is it that cause of the holes, the shoe gets wet (so in turn ur foot)

Thanks for that. Was looking for more info on the interweb for Geox. Some people actually have a Website dedicated to this subject

    http://mygeoxshoesletinwater.wordpress.com

Looks like will stay away. Seem to have a pretty bad reputation on this leaking front

I had a pair of moccasin from them to use in the Hong Kong Summer weather

Obviously they are not as nice in terms of their leather with my suede Edward Green loafers, but they are very comfortable and works with most summer outfits

They are quiet cheap anyway so I don't expect it to last long

I am an engineer, a development guy. I need someone to tell me why it would seem to anybody to be a terrific idea to swiss cheese the soles of shoes to improve ventilation. Why would any project leader entertain this as some sort of a solution?

    WTF?

The holes were probably a solution to hopefully defeat the problem of suffocation and a profusion of perspiration and fungus that occurs to feet when wearing synthetics.
In an older (and better) world, the incompetant fools that suggested cheap and unbreathable synthetics in shoe insides would have been knocked over their heads with their own creations and then fired.
'Ordo ab Chao' (Order out of chaos). Manufacturers offering 'innovative solutions' to problems they created in the first place, and charging you top dollar for their mistakes and coverups, is just one of a myriad of examples of capitalist genius. 'There is a sucker born every minute', once said circus entrepeneur P.T. Barnum. Companies make money screwing the suckers who enjoy being screwed. The company fools are promoted and, well, here we are...in the last days of humanity. Do not ask for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee. :)

You people with the "It leaks" comments are complete numbskulls. I mean, unless it's marketed as a waterproof shoe, I can't understand the complaint here. Most shoes leak if you step in a puddle... get rain shoes or boots if you want that protection. The idea that Capitalism corrects itself and charges you for the correction is a great thing ... and in no way evil or corrupt.

you would prefer that we all have central planning and no one pays for any corrections, so nothing ever gets corrected? People are human and make mistakes, but to criticize those who innovate , simply because they make a profit is as dumb as you can get.

It's ridiculous to think that inventors would market a shoe that they knew was somehow defective, as they would be taking a chance that the market would compete with them to offer a better product. The world wide bias against the free market is amazingly stupid and short sighted. I have bought Geox for both my kids and they wear well and look great. I highly recommend them and think they breathe well enough to warrant the premium pricing, although I try to find them at a discount whenever possible. Don't let these dullards discourage you for giving your kids or yourself a better choice in shoes.

Used to be great quality but a pair I bought last year leaked on the 3rd wear. I bought them in November and had huge problems getting any sort of help with a refund. Sarenza where I bought them didn't want to know but following info on the internet I emailed Geox in Italy and they immediately responded. All was going well until they asked their Oxford St, London, store to arrange for collection of the shoes from my office...............they lost them. They were eventually found and I was then told that I could only have a credit note or travel the 40 miles to their shop to get a credit card refund. After much complaining they agreed a credit card refund over the phone. DONT EVER BUY GEOX SHOES.
