maybe something like this? the pant is part of a suit by Michael Kors and the sweater is by Marc Jacobs. it's a light-weight wool and has a subtle light blue plaid pattern. I like it worn with a light blue shirt or a crisp white. as for details, orange or green ties and cognac leather shoes. Also, check the Marc Jacobs website and look at the Ryan McGinley ads. the grey color of the suit he is wearing looks cool too.

Thick as thieves.

Its like 450 bucks, for fully canvassed MTM.

Thats insanity.

100 bucks for pressing / tailoring at your local, and it looks fantastic.

I'll be doing three + tux at the end of this year.

IMO, you really need a certain body type and supporting wardrobe to make TaT work.

^ i think i can make TaT work.

conversely, due to my height (5'8), i have a hard time finding OTR suits that are short enough. i usually take a sz 48/50 but prefer my suit lengths to be around 28" vs the standard 30".

Then it sounds like a MTM program of your input is looking more and more appealing.

again, due to the fabric's texture and plaid pattern this grey suit ends up looking old and heavy..

im looking for a summer suit. one in cotton and with lighter greys... perhaps with a hint of lavender.

thanks for your inputs though. any recommendations are appreciated.

Normally BoO wouldn't be in my budget (trying to keep jacket + pants around $1,750) but i'll make an exception for BoO as I've never had OTR suits fits me as well as BoO.

Which grey suit are you talking about? I've seen two from this season and the fabric wasn't quite right. Feel free to PM me details.

I'll second the BoO suits, played with them at Farinelli's yesterday and I'm a fan. They are made by Martin Greenfield too.

Saw a nice grey Jil suit at Barney's in BH today. Definitely out of your budget at retail, may be worth considering if you can get it on sale.

thanks PG. unfortunately, as mentioned above, most suits (including JS) are cut too long for me.. saw a beautiful raf simons blazer @ barneys in beverly hills the other day.. fabric almost looked double layered (navy over white) but it wasn't... too bad they only ordered the blazer and not the pants. surprisingly fit me perfectly too!
