I owned the IR for a year but had some weird fitting issues (size 9 TTL was too big..1/2 size down had some discomfort up front). I sold it later but kept looking for a similar style/build cap toe boots.

Didn't even know Thorogood brand till I came across a Pinterest post with these same boots. I ordered these from MildBlend for $270 (retail price is almost same as IR).

Got these earlier this week and these are gorgeous boots..the stitching and hardware are on par (if not even above) IR and the eyelets are bigger to allow thick leather laces. The stock leather laces are gorgeous as well.

I was surprised to find removable heel insert inside which is the main reason why these fit like gloves and are super comfortable right out of the box. With my IRs, it took me over a month to break them in. Really no complaints for now. Didn't find any stitching issues, etc.

I'll update this post in a a month as to how these hold up. One thing with my IRs was once it was broken in, those damn things will take any abuse to hell and back. I used mine for construction work/hiking and then washed it and wore it to office. These Dodgeville are too nice for mud but time will tell.

Highly recommend for those looking for IR alternatives.

Thorogood’s 1892 collection is among my favorites. So underrated - they make a comfortable boot, use great leathers and offer it at a killer deal. I have done full day mountain trail hiking on mine without any discomfort.

Great stuff, you will enjoy and if my experience is any indication - they will look even more beautiful as they age and hold up just fine.

Good stuff!

Yeah man. Owning 3 pairs of RW, I took for granted which means owning a quality pair of boots means having to rape my feet for several weeks and living in agony while the leather breaks in.

Thorogood just makes that theory obsolete!! I don't think I'll be spending more money on another pair of RW again, sadly. Thinking of picking up the TG chukkas for xmas later .
