Thom Browne ruined my daily radio listening

this is sureal...

the radio talk show station I listen to every day 97.1 in LA is going off the air today at 5pm and being replaced by Top 40 all music, all the time (basically hooking an ipod to the airwaves and hitting play). This was a last second announcement made on air yesterday

so no more Adam Carolla, Frost-Heidi-and-Frank, or Tom Leykis.....mostly I will miss Adam Carolla and his "week in rage" bits.

and why is this happening?

because THOM motherfucking BROWNE (the NYC designer Style Forum loves to hate, not just some guy with the same name) was hired as a consultant by CBS (who owns the radio station) to come in and inject some of his "creativity as a designer" into the radio station's format to turn more profit. So his solution? Fire all the on air personalities and replace them with an iPod (probably in a grosgrain trimmed case and sold to CBS by Browne for $2000)

funny enough, Frosty-Heidi-and-Frank posted a photo from one of Browne's previous shows where the 2 models were wearing the 3 legged pants....to say 'THIS GUY' fucked us all over? haha

**** Thom Browne. I'm glad I don't own anything by you anymore. asshole.

that is surreal

I wonder how I can go about getting hired to do stuff I know nothing about, though to be honest, I would have done the ipod thing too.

That is bizarre. Why would a radio station hire a fashion designer??

But it's modernist !!!! You just don't get the concept Jason - it's not about the radio programs themselves, it's about Thom and his artistic concept. It's freaking ART, alright?

the iPod idea is fine, whatever. but Top 40? you'd think Browne would play some modernist 50s jazz...

at least have Paul Reubens do a fashion segment every week, discussing the merits of high trouser hems

Could also just be a stunt by the radio station/talk show hosts.

CBS owns the station? That's odd.

Why would they hire a designer who works with visual aesthetics to 'redesign' a format that has nothing to do with being seen.

the only thing I can think of is that Browne knows a head honcho at CBS, maybe someone he repeatedly blows....

Why would Thom be interested in the least to start working in radio though? If anyone is to blame it's the person who hired him.
