Boots are obviously a smart move, but wouldn't they render the ankle-showing look pointless?

Such a simple mind.

I’ll just take that as propaganda from a goose-steeping tool.

My point is that the TB look is a very limiting one, especially since its utterly pointless and impossible to sport during winter; i.e. its not very versatile year round.

No "look" is possible to sport year round.

No?

You own no item that can be worn year round? You don't own any suits that can be worn year round?

Don't you find it a bit odd that a company that sells overcoats (winter wear) and capes also wants the person donning one on to have his ankles exposed (socks aren't enough protection) to the freezing cold?

I have several "year-round" suits, but it would be very silly to wear one of them in 90F+ weather, no? Your complaint on the line reminds me of the recent discussion over at AAAC, where several gentlemen in NYC were explaining that they wear wellies with their suits on their way to work in inclement weather.

I'm not outside the whole day. You can switch out your shoes as do 95% of people in the winter.

Do you never take your rain jacket off?

If you can afford $5,000 for a suit, you can probably afford a cab or car service if it is that cold.

I always found that to be utterly impractical. We are approaching this from two different perspectives: I want my clothes to work for me; you want to live for your clothes.

Since TB's items are supposed to be part of a uniform, wouldn't practicality play at least a small part?

It's been raining a lot in sofla lately and I've gotten quite wet while wearing my rain jacket on the way to class, I simply left it on and about 10 minutes later it was almost dry.

Sometimes that's not convenient (if you are pressed for time, or there is gridlock traffic) and it might be faster to take the subway than a cab (in NYC), which would mean walking on the street until you reach the subway station.

Again you are still making a moot point about one's pants and the weather in which they wear them.

Class? I assumed you were some guy in his 40s going through a mid-life crisis so he found this forum to take out his aggression to spare his wife and kids. Or are you a teacher?

Actually he is younger than you and rather "twinkish". You two would make a cute couple

You're also trying to make a relationship between the length of the pants and walking in the snow when it should be about the choice of footwear. But, according to you, because you wear short pants you have to wear your oxfords and you can't wear your boots to walk to work, right?
