When they say deadstock does that mean that those jeans were actually made in 1873, have been sitting somewhere for 135 years, and were then sold by Levis for a $501 retail price?

Deadstock means stock that was unsold.

Ya, I figure that, but in the cotext of this auction are they saying that the jeans are unsold from 1873?

I think they are a remake that was made to look exactly as the original as kind of a tribute.

^Wow, go to the levis website...they make jeans currently 'in the olde style' as LVC. Most have distressing, those that don't are called 'deadstock.'

And the humor in the ebay listing is not that the jeans are blatantly fake/misrepresented (they are neither), it's the guy's wash/wear advice.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
