Third Summer Sports Jacket Colour?

Hi Everyone,

Second question of the day here. As the virus subsides here in Western Europe, I have a question about what my third and final summer sports jacket color should be. I already have a dark brown and a navy. The pants I own are (a) 2 pairs of beige chinos, (b) a pair of gray lightweight wool, (c) white chinos and (d) a pair of dark blue denim. I'd say I'm generally quite preppy - my stables are OCBDs, half-zip sweaters, penny loafers and the ocassional sports jacket.

I really want something that would be as versatile as possible. I was leaning towards tan, though that would only go with dark denim and white, the latter of which I rarely get a chance to wear. Another alternative is olive, though I really don't want to come across as dandy and I'm not sure I'd like it. I found this really promising blue colour on sale on the ted baker site ( https://www.tedbaker.com/uk/Mens-Black-Friday/Coats-Jackets/HOOP-Linen-blazer-Blue/p/241154-BLUE), but I'm not sure how long this sale is going to last and I really don't like buying this kind of stuff online.

What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.

You already have navy. I suppose another blue would be fine, but if it’s your “third and final” I’d opt for off white linen or the olive linen.

What makes olive dandy-ish? Green is a very solid classic choice; I wear it a lot. Olive is much more brown, so ever more usable.

An olive hopsack or linen blazer would look sharp. Very easy to Pair with lighter summer colors. If it’s done in hopsack, you could even carry it into the fall.

Light grey or light blue might be decent choices as well. I don't think olive looks too "dandy" (not much more than any sports jacket would, anyway). If both of your current coats are solid, maybe you could go for a pattern to add more variety.

If for some reason you don't like wearing jackets in light colors, there are still a lot of midtones you can chose from as shown in the pictures below: light tan, burnt orange, tobacco, and rust. They are versatile colors for both day and night, all year around and can easily pair up with your wardrobe. Teal (blue/green) is also a nice summer color.
