I love Thinkpads to death but my latest computer was a Sony (mediocre build quality even on their top end machines) so I've been dying for the latest crop of Thinkpads to arrive so I can return to the motherland. X220 reviews are starting to crop up ... looks like a fantastic laptop. Great keyboard, slightly bigger screen than the X201 with better res and considerably better colour and viewing angle ... I'm so happy T_T O, forgot to mention: 8 hour battery life on the extended battery, 20 hours with the extended slice. http://www.notebookreview.com/defaul...ewsID=6056&p=2

Nice. The T and W series can take what they call the FHD screen, which has a higher nit and gamut, and is supposed to rival the IPS panels. Of course, if you want the X series, IPS is the way to go.

I got the W510 with the FHD and built-in color calibrator for my girlfriend and she does a lot of photo work. I think the higher gamut actually makes it better than the IPS panels for this purpose. Of course it's quite a large machine, and I wouldn't want to take it traveling too often.

How do you like your 510 Kent? I'm considering the 520 when it comes out in April.

She likes it just fine. It's pretty snappy and the screen looks good.

i've had a few thinkpads when i was in high school... they're tough little mothers.

i'm probably gonna grab a thinkpad as my next comp once i head off to grad school...

are there any models that don't have a built in cd drive or anything like that so i can dock them later? (i really only need maybe a few USB ports, something for my headphones, and an i/o port.

The X220 doesn't have an optical drive, you add a dock/media slice to get one.
