Im in the market for an older watch. I want a simple watch with a leather band.

I am looking specifically for a vintage omega seamaster but I am also open to others.

With so many replicas floating around, (and good ones too)
I would never buy any jewelry of any kind from Ebay.
But that's just me.

I don't say the one in the Ebay ad that you are interested in is a replica.
I say only that unless you really know your stuff,
who really knows.

I once bought a watch like that several years ago, what I thought was a used legitimate Cartier Tank for around $1000. Battery ran out so I went to the Cartier dealer to replace it, they told me it was fake. Humiliated, I threw it away on the spot.

Wow, what did the people at Cartier tell you? Did they try to embarass you?

No, they were extremely nice and professional and apologetic. They even called somewhere to verify that the SNs did not match up. I guess it was hard to tell just from the exterior that it was a replica. In case you're interested, they said I could take it to a jewelry store and get a new battery, but I threw it out.

Happened to a friend of mine as well. They took the watch and smashed it with a hammer right in front of him. I guess they where tierd of fake watches.

I own that watch, very nice, although the watchstrap leaves a little something to be desired...

I like the Omega being auctioned. However, I probably wouldn't participate in the auction. I don't have much confidence in items coming from the Far East.
