You should schedule a visit with the endrocrinologist shortly after starting treatment to make sure estradiol and DHT levels remain normal. You may need to take an aromatase and/or 5a-reductase inhibitor. I've seen people that took testosterone supplements for more minor problems like hair loss and ended up bald with hairy breasts because their GP didn't have a clue what he was doing.

yeah, I'd worry about a GP who told me to rub minoxidil on my ****, too.
