C'mon, people, unless you're a dog or in high school, please don't talk about celebrating a monthly anniversary with your SO.

oh and also this gem, commented on the very same photo:

.....so religion is bad because it permeates every aspect of society and pushes it's beliefs on you, yet you incessantly post shit like this explicitly telling me to 'forget jesus and thank the stars'? also, being sick in "subjective beliefs" is exactly what you're conveying when you post shit like this. hypocritical? contradiction? or just plain fucking retarded? fuck you. you're not smart and actually pretty annoying:confused:

I thank the stars that my heavy elements arranged in a somewhat less dorky-looking configuration than Lawrence Krauss.

Girl 1-- I don't understand why people have this idea that because the world isn't perfect there is no god. It doesn't say anywhere in the bible nor is it a part of catholic belief that god fixes everything.

OP -- i'm not going to push my beliefs onto you.
I just don't think a god could be so malevolent to create the things that exist in this world, nor do I think omnipotent creationism is anywhere near a plausible, or better belief then believing in science and reason.

Girl 1 -- i'm not either i was obviously joking lawl and did he really create them? most of the evil on this planet is caused by humans who were according to the catholic faith have free will to do whatever they please. furthermore there's nothing wrong with that

Girl 1 -- aaaaand if you knew your shit you'd know that the only actual unforgivable sin is having doubts in "the lord's mercy". not sure what it's called/how to explain it in english :)

Girl 1 -- so are we just listing the negative things in the world? there has to be a balance of chaos. bad things happen to good people, c'est la vie. are we going to blame god for all the negativity? why hasn't science found cures for everything yet since it's so reliable
    14 hours ago · Like

OP -- I don't blame god for anything, I understand were a complex evolution of something that came from chaos. Not some wizards master creation.

Girl 1 -- haha i don't particularly have a faith i just get really irritated when people disrespect catholicism because for the most part they don't even know what they're talking about. they think because they went to church when they were in elementary school and went to a catholic high school blah blah they know shit but they are usually completely off.

OP -- I think any creationist theory is crackpot, I don't need to know anything about the catholic faith (though I was roman catholic till I was 16) to know it's ridiculous.

OP -- If you really want to know what I think, I think it's catharsis. Humans developed god when they became self aware and noticed they were going to die, they adapted to survive. But now we can see where we came from, and we're beginning to understand it, doesn't add a profound meaning to an after life, but it sure as hell makes the miracle of consciousness sound a whole lot better.

Girl 1 -- I think that the way everything happen regarding humans and evolution and thhe way our bodies are built and blah blah blah is too perfect to have happened just by fluke. Personally I think that it all had some kind of divine guidance furthermore I believe all religions are right if that makes sense. It's kind of what's the better story for you and if not having a God is the better story for you so be it. It just gets a little old seeing it on my news feed is all
    2 hours ago · Like

Girl 3 -- happened by fluke? How are our bodies "too perfect"? when only you and certain people in this world were born that way? What about the people who were born with mental challenges/deformities... are they not perfect? Why would God create them then? Did you not stop to think that maybe it is due to genetics that they were born that way? If you do not agree with evolution then you are not well read and need to look some things up. Evolution is actually not a matter of belief or not... And when you say "the better story for you" that's the exact reason why some people find it hard to follow religion - because it is a STORY we are told to believe in. Whereas evolution and accepting that we are the creation of science is a fact, no hidden messages. I think what confuses people the most is them wanting to know that they have a purpose in life; religion gives them that comforting pillow to sleep on at night. Having someone to thank or to blame for your successes/problems must be nice... But don't you think that everyone would be better people if they took responsibility for their losses and gains and started living life under their own control? Making decisions because THEY want to? I think so...

OP -- I agree with "what's the better story for you."
You should never be sick of subjective beliefs that disagree with yours, that's a little intolerant. I know you don't mean to be, and i'm sorry if you think i'm talking down to you just because I think you present no plausible explanation of anything. I just choose to believe in the smartest people on earth instead of thousand year old fairy tales. It brings me more comfort in living and helps me get through the day better, as I hope your beliefs do for you. No matter how much you argue, you could not possibly say something that would sway my mind or make god more believable, because in the end it's always an unanswerable question.

Girl 2 -- I believe in god...and I don't blame him for everything or anything. But I pray to him every night because I believe in something bigger than this narcissistic planet that believes it's the centre of the universe. I don't believe in a lot of the stuff in the bible. But I do believe in god. Just as much as I believe the human race can better itself. And for those who believe religion is the cause of all suffering and wars and blah blah in the world, no. Don't blame religion. Blame stupid people. Stupid people do bad things whether they believe in a religion or not.

Girl 1 -- I never said I don't agree with science or evolution I'm actually someone who is quite partial to biology. I'm talking about the way our organs are arranged, our body temperature, how far away the earth is from the sun is what allows us to exist and flourish for the most part. I also said lack thereof a religion is best for some people. aaand it's not part of catholic belief that God makes all our choices. One of the main things is in fact that God gave us free will.

Girl 1 -- Now OP I think it's more intolerant to constantly be putting down catholicism all over facebook. I just don't like having anyone's beliefs on my newsfeed whether it's that my fat cat created the world or that nothing exists at all. And I'm not trying to make you believe anything! If you want to have the most outrageous beliefs that's fine. I respect that, I just don't appreciate it when people put other people's beliefs down especially when they don't know as much about them as they think they do is all. Oh and Girl 2 I want to like your comment but I'm on my phone at the moment :)

OP -- as Epicurus said: "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then He is not omnipotent. Is He able, but not willing? Then He is malevolent. Is He both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is He neither able nor willing? Then why call Him God?"
    42 minutes ago · Like

Girl 3 -- The first comment you made was "Jesus loves you." Don't you think you're being a hypocrite by voicing what your beliefs are on facebook? I mean - it doesn't offend me - but you just said "I just don't like having anyone's beliefs on my newsfeed" Then why did you choose to voice yours? Unfortunately we are faced with a lose-lose situation... But if you don't like hearing other people's opinions voiced, then I highly suggest you practice what you preach.
    40 minutes ago · Like

OP -- you should ask astrophysicists about what they think god had to do with the distance of the earth from the sun, do you think he tried hundreds of trillions of times throughout the entire cosmos till he made us just right? do you think no other earth-like planets with possible earth like civilizations can't exist hundreds of millions of light-years away? We know how the earth got where it is, we know how our planets formed around the sun. You know the sun was thought to be god at one point too... but THAT is ridiculous, not you know, all that other stuff.

Girl 1 -- Girl 3, my first comment was obviously a joke lol I meant no harm by it
    22 minutes ago · Like

Girl 1 -- Now you're just pulling my tongue because I never said that nothing else is possible! I have my mind open to all the possibilities out there including the one that doesn't include a higher power. And you are, this past week I've seen 2 posts mocking catholic beliefs that you've posted. I could care less about what your beliefs are just keep them off my feed. Regardless of what you say when you bring up religion and politics you're going to offend someone. I'm not offended or really irritated but I'm sure you've offended someone in some way and that's just not okay. People should be able to believe what they want without being mocked or seen as weaker or not "free thinkers".

OP -- I am going to post whatever I want whenever I want, don't stifle my opinion, I give literally no shits if I offend someone with my beliefs, they can think whatever they want.

OP -- all you're basically arguing is that I shouldn't post a picture with a great quote that was directed at my copious atheist friends. I'm not going to keep you in mind when expressing myself. Get a clue.

I just hate that this guy thinks he is the supreme thinker on religion entirely. I also hate his whole attitude that he is smarter than everyone else simply because he did not go to post-secondary (you get hints of it in that text, but if you were to meet him you'd see what I mean). He thinks his thoughts are a godsend, as if his mind was graced by the Lord himself. (yah I did that on purpose......fucking OP)
