1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I've never met any group who complains more about pay and work rules than regional airline pilots. Although, I will concede teachers are pretty terrible about it.

Well, you did mention the safe place for teacher h8 so the interested read would be led to believe there was a logical connection....

Can't we just h8 them all? (We should probably include healthcare exec and lawyers just to be safe.)

Connections made by my brain tend to be more free-associative than logical. (Just don't tell my boss or former clients.)

And I'm totally down for diversity in h8ing. :slayer:

I've noticed a strong correlation between "common social media teacher complaints" and "pedigree of institution".

Where do you guys find these terrible teacher friends?

I am friends with one of my high school teachers (granted she was a good teacher...and I would have happily boned her) and a couple of younger people who became teachers...and I don't see much of this.

They still complain...but mostly their complaints are about legitimate teacher annoyances. Things like stupid school policies they are required to enforce, problems that exist in the home that they are powerless to combat, senseless curricula they are required to follow. Even if they do complain about pay, it is something sensible that doesn't discount the benefits afforded by their schedule.

Yes (except when it interferes with her politics); she's a huge fan of Tyson too. One or two quotes for him per week are par for the course.

That's exactly it, except she was claiming they only get 3 weeks of vacation a year because of course planning and summer school and that she can't even go to the bathroom without having to answer emails.

My junior year of high school my teachers went on strike, except the state didn't allow that, so they "worked to contract." Which meant they all showed up at school right before school started, and they left right after. All clubs were cancelled and whatnot. My pre-calc teacher gave our final exam as a scantron because "why should he have to spend time grading exams?"

Most of them were friends/friends of friends from high school.

Ah, that's the problem. I bet if I followed the profiles of high school classmates who became teachers, I would be inundated with shit (given what I get from other high school people).

I figure the friends from college who became teachers have to know what they were getting into...you don't go from an elite college to teaching in public schools unless you are doing it because you want to and care about the kids. Also, many of them ended up in teaching through Teach For America or the Urban Teacher Education Program...since my college didn't even offer an education/teaching degree.

I'm not really up on this but wasn't there some thing about a yoga pant company telling fat chics not to wear their pants? I thought yoga pants had become a thin privilege thing?

    I wouldn't call that crazy.

Dude wants to sell yoga pants. Fatties want to buy yoga pants. Sure, they look like shit in yoga pants, but why should he not take their money? Rich MILFs aren't going to stop buying them because their size 18 ex-sorority sister got a pair, but they will get pissed at Lululemon if they think the company is run by sizist misogynists.

Apologize with the appearance of sincerity for a minute or so, don't lose millions in revenues. Totally worth it.

ugh, the same stupid fucking articles keep reappearing in my news feed as more of my friends "like" them.

    the latest:

"Intelligent people All Have One Thing In Common: They Don't Fall for Stupid Facebook Articles"

    er...
"Intelligent people All Have One Thing In Common: They Stay Up Later Than You."

and then all of my actually unintelligent friends proceed to wait until 2 AM to share the article and post things like "too true" :fu:
