1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Did you mean to capitalize that? In a discussion of typos no less.

    This is like meta meta.

This is something I don't understand..... Why can't people just learn the basics so they stop embarrassing themselves everyday?

I have a young colleague , 21 , who always post some very personal family issues or comments on her drunken antics...

She did reach the Stupidity Nirvana when she did post about her recent fanny wax.

If you have to comment on how many times you went to the gym this week, I'm just going to assume you're a lazy fatass and leave it at that.

Also, she's including the four day weekend as "this week" so it shouldn't really count.

I notice fat chics really like to talk about all the working out they're doing. The Sbx I stop at on the way to work often has a random fat chic in work out clothes ordering one of those 1k calorie drinks.

I think it's like when people quit smoking: they tell lots of people they're doing it so that they have an extra incentive to keep it up. Also (and related), I think they're trying to establish a new social identity as someone who goes to the gym. (Again, that gives them an incentive not to fail.) Unfortunately, I don't think it works very often.

Those are good reasons, actually, for cluttering up a FB feed. Better than my SiL constantly posting about how she can't decide between spending the afternoon at the mall or the Starbucks.

I see so many stupid things/pics and how I wish I could comment on them and say they're vapid/idiots/social climbing assholes/fucked up/superficial but most of them are from my wife's family and her friends.

Sometimes I'm tempted to speak ill of my friends' posts, but then I remember that half of my posts are quotations from the talking cat I used to have or about fake awards that she won.

Well, they were real in the sense that there was actually a little ceremony where she was informed about the award and congratulated. But the awards did not pre-exist my granting them.

She did used to win the "Champion Cat" award every year, though.

Someone posted pics of an informal high school class reunion they had in my hometown. I notice that at least 3 of the guys in my class (out of a total of 300-ish) have become transvestites in the years after graduation. Is that an average ratio?

Note that there could be a lot more, only about 40 people showed up

No idea. Were you able to find a lot of kindred spirits when you were there? Or did you feel like there were only a few of you?

 there were some openly gay kids when I was there, but these aren't even those guys.

A friend, a teacher who loves his job, posted something about being passionate about what you do, and the quote below is a nurse who was agreeing with him and relating how she loves her job. I don't mean to mock, but I got a chuckle out of her comment.

    Uh...phrasing.
