I worked at Swensen's Ice Cream.I assume most people on this forum had a job while in HS. When I think of the high schoolers I know now, none of them work. Most have parents that have high hopes for their kids to get into an amazing school but most of them will get into the state school they wanted anyhow.

I started working well before HS. Rural America gives one lots of opportunities for employment in agriculture and ranching. I spent good portions of my summers in jr high away on a hay baling crew. My kids have gone to great schools and no they didn’t work but that’s ok. One paid for all tuition by playing sports. One made it into a top five most desirable school and the top public school in the country, so I don’t mind that they didn’t work. I worked because I was always bored and driving farm equipment and trucks was fun, made getting the class A license very easy When I was 16.I assume most people on this forum had a job while in HS. I was only allowed to with during the summer. I suspect that will be the rule for my kids. They have their whole lives to work.
I wonder how the driver license were aligns with where kids are growing up. Is it more walkable?
