1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

On top of this, I'm highly suspicious of his claim that property taxes are relatively low. I looked at the NYC property tax website, and it is probably the most convoluted tax scheme I've ever seen. That's saying something given tax administration was a major part of my grad program, and it's something I've dealt with substantially in my work.

Given the nature of their scheme, it's hard to get a good feel for how one unit in NYC might compare to something similar elsewhere, but, at least on the surface, it doesn't appear to be intrinsically less burdensome overall.

Assuming his annual tax bill really is as small as he claimed, I'm betting pB's taxes are kept low by exemptions and/or abatements, likely tied to the fact that he lives in multifamily housing. If that's the case, he's probably not a great data point. It's also not really instructive to use NJ as a basis for comparison, given it has the highest property taxes in the country.

When you met Ticketmaster, do you remember who you told them you were?

Did you order them yourself like a pleb or did you have your AmEx Platinum concierge service do it for you?

AMEX called my cell to say a fresh round of tickets were released today and they'd scored mainfloor, Row 5 VIP seating. Not going to lie, the price was outlandish, but an aging Gen Xer has to do what he has to do.

I'll give Pio a pass because he's Canadian but Rush is super lame. Almost as lame as Led Zeppelin even.

different audience base. Zep seems to be favorited by pot heads of all ages. Rush is old corporate people and a bar jukebox.

On Rush's Wikipedia page, it says that they are a progressive rock band with heavy elements of science fiction and fantasy, and one of their key influencers was Genesis. I've been sitting here for 5 minutes trying to come up with a more unappealing description and am stumped

    I endorse this remark. :slayer:
ETA: and they're Canadian. Canadian is to rock what French is to rap.

We'll never be forgiven for inflicting the auditory horrors that are Nickelback and Justine Beaver on the world.
