    In fairness though, BMW will tell you, if you buy an M5, to only fill it with 91+ octane. It's in the manual and on the gas cap. So someone who doesn't bother to do anything more than follow manufacturer recommendations will likely always buy premium (and get worried if his car doesn't have premium, because it must be bad if the carmaker says not to do it)

    In my experience consultants are hired to do one thing and one thing only: Appease regulators.

    I met an ex-banking regulator the other day. He explained to me how he would use surgical gloves when he would slip out to smoke a joint, so that they wouldn't be able to smell it on him when he went back in to tell them their bank was insolvent.

    why is it that these "natural, organic, raw" etc, etc. specialty grocery stores often have the crappiest looking and tasting produce?

    Because the blemishes, mal-shapes and shit-smeared apples are more "honest" than all those GM-Waxed Apples that other chains sell.
