1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Someone needs to make a tineye like plugin that locates the video that a gif was made from.

Gifs may be convenient for placing around the internet, but often they just make me wish I could see the real video (with sound) instead of some low framerate, blocky animation.

There is this guy that I work with, he is about 10 years older than me and he is kind of the "forgotten" employee. People leave him out of emails and such and worst of all our boss and boss's boss and all of that constantly tell him to do things over and make them like mine. He has been quipping a lot about it recently. I think he is becoming really disgruntled.

A day ago him and I had to put some things together for some Fat Cat requests. I did the section that I generally deal with and his guy the section he usually deals with. So, last night the boss's boss sent both of us an email about some things to have complete by late morning regarding what we sent. Essentially it was an email telling this guy to make his stuff look like mine and add all of these other things that I had added, but wasn't asked to add just because I knew it would be helpful. This happens all of the time at my job. I pretty much can see either what questions people would ask about the data, or I have some foresight into the point they are trying to come to themselves. I basically do all of the work for them up front so it won't be this back and forth game for a week. Also, I like to show them how I already came to the conclusion they are searching for and whatever they think they are onto is old news 99.9% of the time it is old news.

So basically I am saying my going the extra mile, knowing how to deliver the goods, and slight presumption gets me further than this guy and he is butthurt about it. It also doesn't help that he is a low-talker.

^ Also, the request for late morning I had finished an extra write up on navigating the data and things to consider before this guy even got into the office. Get with it, man!

That last point is probably key. I can see where it sucks to be that guy, but at some point he has to man up and say "What I'm doing isn't cutting it" and/or "Hey, Booth - you've got a process that gets better results than mine, I want to learn from it". I've got empathy and excitement for people who want to improve, I don't have much/any for people who just curl up into a ball.

Yeah, he just gets pissy. One time he said if he did the same work and just gave it to me to send in it would be fine. He thinks people are out to get him, but in reality he works in a bubble. Also, it is 11am and he still didn't get the stuff back to me to send in by "late morning". So annoying, and now it makes me look bad.

I feel the same way on Styleforum website betimes. If I sent my thoughts to Ace_of_Grace or Hoot_A_Ninny and had them post them, they'd get lots of thumbs up. But when people see the posts are from me, they are all like "whatevs I will wait patiently for the next post by Hoot_A_Ninny."
