This probably deserves its own thread, but I have been wondering for a long time now - how are you supposed to use those plastic splash guards in the urinals? It seems like however I direct my flow, it iNCREASES the splashing

I don't get why so many things you see in movies and on TV that are supposed to indicate romance are actually irritating or horrible things. Sharing an umbrella is most irritating, sex on the beach just gets sand in no-no spots, feeding each other is infantile, etc.

People who wear faddish clothes when they are completely inappropriate. I guess knit caps are trendy with teenagers right now, because I've seen about four teenage kids wearing them in 95 degree heat in the last week.

Unless there's a good reason the sender needs to know I've received the message, this is my standard approach. Still, it annoys me that I have to click a box every single time those particular people send me an email.

Yes, there is definitely a personality type that tends to engage in the practice.

I accidentally did that a few years ago on an email to my boss' boss. A week later my boss pulled me aside and asked me to kindly never fucking do that again. She wasn't copied on the email so her boss must have said something.

Totally mea culpa. It's fucking annoying

I do not get people that randomly Capitalize things. What is up with People that do this? Do they think randomly assigning things to the category of Proper Nouns is the Correct Thing to do?

^it's a corporate thing. Suckups capitalize their project or their boss's bullshit buzzwords to show that they are ascribing the Proper Importance to such a weighty and revolutionary Strategic Thought

I do it because my little finger gets left out when I'm typing, so often I call him to action even when it's not strictly necessary.

There is this department at my company where all of the guys kind of dress the same: Bright, tight dress shirt, very slim trousers and loud dress shoes. Like wacky dyed colors and style. I wonder if they shop together, or it is some unsaid uniform. I want to ask them about it, but I really don't want to get into talking to them about clothes.

One of my directs has been with me for nine years and he's a pretty good guy and a pretty good employee. However, he has this odd habit when he gets assigned something he is unfamiliar with. First, he'll dither and blather like a housewife about why he cannot do the task. This will go on for about two weeks with him approaching both me and his peers multiple times. I finally get tired of this and explain to him in email exactly how to do the task. He'll then email me back and tell me how he plans to do it instead. I'll repeat to him that's not how to do it and do it as I said. He'll then vent to his peers how I'm being unfair. He'll then hand in the project his way and I'll hand it right back and tell him to do it the instructed way. He'll then do that and will be a good company man and own it outside of the executive leadership.

It's very odd. I mean, tell me you cannot create a report, be told exactly how to do it, then refuse to do it that way? Boggles my mind. Happens about twice a year but he's otherwise a stellar manager.

Why don't people have other people proofread their resumes?

Two finalists for a decent office job, $50-60K range, typos all over both resumes.
