1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

The people who hate them tend to be people who conflate GMOs and industrial agribusiness. If you sit down and explain what GMOs actually are to these people, they tend to look confused, and then come back at you with, "But... Monsanto is evil!".

And you know, I don't disagree with that. Monsanto is a pretty scummy corporation. But every bit of scientific research done on the subject says that GMOs are perfectly safe.

The scientifically illiterate on the conservative side scream about how global warming is fake, the scientifically illiterate on the liberal side scream about GMOs and vaccines. The solution is clear: We must load the scientifically illiterate on a barge and shove them into the Antarctic Ocean.

Batshit crazy about vaccines apparently also strikes liberal media icons.

Only denying anthropogenic global warming and not all global warming makes one a RINO these days.

Sometimes I miss Hey Man. The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long, and he burned so very very brightly.

I never said it was the exclusive domain of the tea party. I was merely saying that the vaccination thing is something all of the batshit insane people can rally around since the tea partiers do it along with the liberals that were mentioned when the vaccines were brought up.

Card carrying member of Hillary's "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" here; the earth has provably gone through many ice/glacial stages which had periods of both global cooling and warming. Clearly it's happened before without man and we have no reason to doubt that it would/is happening again. That fact is cited by many (including conservatives, like me!) as an argument against AGW. Sounds like you're falling prey to the media again, who intentionally misrepresent conservative and their positions - "flat earthers", "knuckle draggers" and all that.

Here's a 17k yr temp graph from the GISP2 Greenland ice core samples. All those red lines are periods of samples' based global warming. I agree they happened, I also agree that man had nothing to do with them. So, I'm onboard with "global warming happens" (as are most/all? conservatives when not edited by the media), I'm just not onboard with "we know for sure man is the cause and - trust us - we know what needs to be done to fix it!":

the consumer has the option find/request/purchase vaccines that have no mercury based preservatives pretty easily here in the US. that pretty much invalidates the majority of the anti-vaccine zealots arguments. if they still want to rant after hearing there are options that exclude mercury preservatives then they will have to deal with the outcome.
