1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

someone actually put a permanent camera on the bridge to capture the festivities. the website 11foot8.com wins the Internet for today

notice that there is actually a huge flashing yellow light to specifically warn drivers when their vehicle is too tall. that is the funniest part of the situation.

It was hamfisted satire of the Bush/Cheney administration, done way, way too late. And the ending as awful.

He's gotten hit or miss lately. Full Dark, No Stars was great, 11/22/63 was ridiculous. I'll still read everything he puts out, but he no longer jumps to the front of the queue.

This is something I don't get. Why do people insist on reading every damn book by Steven King or any other particular dime store suspense writer that cranks out 3 mediocre to lousy books every year? There's so much good stuff out there, why not broaden the world of what you read? I see people who have piles of generic murder mysteries, with one author recycling 3 different plots 20 times each. Do people really find that worthwhile? Why not work your way through the literary canon instead, reading the 1,000 greatest books ever written? Why not pick up some serious nonfiction? Pop psychology?

I guess I just don't get why you would waste reading time on reading yet another Steven King book.

 I grew up in a bookstore (both my parents owned bookshops and fully utilized my low/no-wage labor). I haven't had a tv in twelve years. I read a shit-ton of books, probably about a 1,000 pages of recreational reading a week for the last twenty years (excepting three years of law school). I've read most of the classics, both fiction and nonfiction.

Sometimes you just want a good mindless read. He writes entertaining stuff, some of it's very good. I wouldn't rank anything of his in my top ten of books, but it's usually an enjoyable read.

    1000 x 52 x (20 - 3) = 884,000 pages. Wow, that's a lot.

I'm at roughly 700 so far for this week, not counting the daily newspaper. I read about 80-100 pages an hour, depending on font and subject, no it's really not that much. Imagine how much time you spend in front of a tv. Now take that time and read. It's pretty easy.

Reading? I'd fall asleep in 20 mins, I can hardly make it thru a TV program after 9 pm.

Anyway, we may need the FCM to verify your claims.

And this is why your facts have to be checked.

    But of course.
