Get a proper overcoat that is past the knees.

That would look weird as hell A) in Iceland and B) with all the other clothing I'm taking. I'm going casual. Not SW&D or anything, but all I'm taking is chinos, jeans, OCBD's and one pair of brogues.

And a metric fuckton of thick sweaters.

Bring a huge canada goose parka or something.

Also, for some reason I picture everybody there wearing either charcoal, or black turtleneck sweaters exclusively.

When I lived in such a climate, I wore a proper overcoat with sweaters and jeans all the time. Get one that fits well in a color that isn't horrendously boring (the primary one I wear, then and now, is mid gray) and It'll work fine. And it'll be warm.

I'm not saying that you have to do this, or that your other choices aren't valid, but don't summarily dismiss it.

My brother teaches business classes in a non bigtime University in the South. He says that many of the students just will not do any work. Fuck 'em, he flunks them if they won't work.

OTOH, my eldest daughter graduated from Duke a year ago. You do the work at Duke or you go home.

That's disgusting, I would have told him to go to the bathroom.

I heard that some carriers have begun to offer childfree flights. :slayer:

I've had some terrible teachers one wasn't able to teach, he would just stand their and tell stuff and assume people knew what he meant.

I once got told to not answer questions in class, as I answered all of them for 6 months straight and 3 people got higher verbal grades than I did. :censored:

Those are not really comparable I wouldn't wear a leather jacket during real wintertime.

I do not get people that clip their nails in public. I've even seen people doing toenails. Seriously, WTF?

I clip my toenails on the airplane, since there's really nothing better to do there.

If you are planning to only buy one winter jacket you should get a parka (the north face, Canada goose, whatever..). You will regret it if you don't.

I used to do that all the time, but just recently on an international flight this guy shot me the nastiest look. I thought it was okay as long as you're the father of a newborn. (Never looked up the rule, but I've been told.)

You will look like everyone else, as it get COLD in the wintertime.

It has been really cold the last couple of years, we had -16 and hard wind and Oslo is even colder.

Agree but education spending - at least in Texas - is getting hammered to the point where the middle school GT students are put in the same classroom as everyone else and just assigned more work. Imagine telling a 13-year old boy that he has to do extra work just because he's smart. If he were really smart he'd drop out of GT and get better grades with less work.

Khan is actually quite good, our son got hooked on it a while back. Between that and Mythbusters he's going to be pretty sharp. Or he'll blow up the house.

    I clip toenails during meetings.
