I get in and out of collecting things. I regain or lose interest once I realize the obsession. Currently into:

-Vintage traditional style pocket knives
-Old zippo lighters About 10 ; 30 or more years old.
-Clothes (New to this style)
-Pens
-Flashlights about 10 for EDC
-Military patches and coins (old collection from previous life)
-Watches , have about 10, would actually use 6 of them.
- RC plane parts to build from scratch

Some things I am starting or want to hoard are:

-Lapel pins
-Flashy or colorful socks
-Parts to make scratch built model engine.

What about you guys?

I use to have about a dozen Rolex watches, but I sold all of them except my deep sea and datejust.

I got my first knife from my father at age 7. It's a Pal 36, sometimes referred to as " the poor man's Randall. That was 63 years ago and I still have it along with 2 others to keep it company. Also have over a hundred other knives to meet every possible contingency. I live in Chicago & for many years handguns were outlawed. Thanks to the Heller decision, I now have a CCW & about 12 -15 pistols.
For some reason I became attracted to vintage machinal pencils and have 150 or so of them. Like many of you I have 20 or so clocks & a like number of wooden radios. I think maybe 25 paintings & prints. I had 15 mechanical typewriters but gave them to my niece. I now only have 3. I stopped smoking 3 decades ago but for some reason have a of lighters, pipes, tobacco tins.
I got married (1st time ) in December & my wife is the ultimate minimalist. She was going to throw out the boxes that my Chris Reeve knives came in. Fortunately I caught her in time.
Writing this was very therapeutic. It's my intention to sell the bulk of my hoard by the end of the month. Wish me luck.

White male tears.

LMAO Too funny. I forgot to add books several hundred. This reply was all the motivation I need to aggressively minimalize my hoard of treasures Will be posting in the for sale section within the next hour. Anyone looking to acquire a Smyth & Sons umbrella or a high-end weapon or other White male toys may find them in my next post. If your looking for something shoot me a pm and I'll see if I have it

I keep waffling between the mindset that collectors are weirdos that are trying and failing to fill a deep void in their lives, or that collecting is a totally cool and normal thing to do. Are some collections more acceptable than others? Are watches more justifiable than Digimon cards if you get equal use out of both? Then there's the whole issue of disc rot for those who collect games/CDs...

A lot of collectors are weirdos. Many of them show signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder, not surprisingly.

OTOH many collectors are boringly neurotypical and just like having stuff.
