Awesome party last night. And when I arrived at my business school at 6.30 am wearing a bath robe and swimming goggles the cleaning lady was already there to let me in. Good times.

I get a laugh out of your cat posts. Seriously though, never had a cat have a probelm with their litter box like that. I mean, maybe one kitten accident and that's it.

Have you tried changing the litter? I've known cats that were picky like that but it usually came down to them not liking the type of litter used or the litter not being changed often enough.

The only problem that I have encountered is that when they use the litter box they kick the littler all over the place and make a mess. When I had a cat I would always have to clean a 20 foot radius everyday.

I listen to rock, alt, country, metal, classical, and have no trouble letting it all jumble together. The problem comes with specific acts: for country I could listen to Willie Nelson all day. Not the Mrs. After three songs, she's looking for Clay Walker or Kenny Chesney. Metal and alt- (Metallica, GNR, Radiohead, Gorillaz) isn't happening, and classical is a minefield: even Beethoven gets her irritated, so Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich are Very Not Happening. And, for God's sake don't mention Bob Dylan or Elvis Costello.

I Think the problem is temperament. She' favors Kenny Chesney and Jimmy Buffett and Mozart, and I think they're okay in small doses, like time we spend in elevators. We find common ground in Better Than Ezra, and a few U2 discs. It's like what we listen to has to be validated by current popular opinion, and I just don't do that.

Covered litter boxes. We have two in our laundry room.

I think my cat has gotten worse about that....luckily I use the disintegrating pine pellets, so what does escape is just like sawdust and gets picked up with any other dust.

My partial solution is to keep the (covered) litter box in the shower...I live in a 1BR so there is not a lot of space to hide it away and the litter box in the bathtub with a half closed curtain makes it sort of like a maze so she can't bolt straight out in a cloud of litter. Anything that does escape just dissolves and gets washed down the drain when I first turn the shower on.

One of my cats has decided it is cool to just leave the stinky on top of the litter; he doesn't bury it anymore.
When I clean the box he sits there and just smiles at me, like he's proud of his effort.

That's compromise for you: tolerable to both parties, ideal to none.

I was approached by a Francophone as I was washing my hands and he said, "I like your eyes." I said thanks because I actually don't really like my eyes that much. Great way to start off the morning.
