Magnificent Ambersons is actually pretty good. Reading about the backstory on that film gives hopes as to what might have been, but it's still pretty great.

When I get back to work on Wednesday, there is probably going to be a pile of boxes sitting on my desk/chair. I'll be getting all the parts to my new HTPC plus some other random things I ordered while I was away.

Add in the box (to be returned) that I left sitting there before I left town, my coworkers are going to think I've gone nuts.

Nope not the word I was looking for, I'm a sucker for good sentimental movies. Ever seen a movie called Gallipoli?

Also don't forget we are talking about overrated movies, GWTW is supposed to be high in the pantheon it isn't it is merely watchable or OK. Although it is way too long for a just pretty good movie, unlike say Lawrence of Arabia. Still hoping they'll find some more unreleased footage to add to an ultimate cut.

I had a great weekend, up until my daughter and I got sick yesterday. We had a miserable evening last night.

But.... to that point it had just been a wonderful weekend. The little girl was a perfect angel all weekend, very lovable and fun and was with us for all kinds of different activities, child-oriented and otherwise, with a minimum of complaints or tantrums or issues. That's not to say she's normally a difficult child, but it was an especially great weekend from a behavior standpoint, and she's getting to an age where she is particularly emotive and outgoing with her affection. It was just a very special, warm, enjoyable 4-day weekend.

oh, and also, conne has quit 2 consecutive games of Words with Friends because I had opened up 100-point leads within 5 or 6 turns.

Fang has to be from NZ, no one else loves Gallipoli so much. I'm with him on the horrible content of Japanese TV though, not that anyting is on-air right now at 4am.

I don't feel the need to pay for more nonsensical variety shows. I'm already in TV hell. And you're an Australian then.

    Good to hear, Douglas.

    Even better to hear.

I'm happy because I actually felt energized this morning. Been a while since I felt that way on a Monday.

Have had some excellent beer this weekend while home for thanksgiving.

I stopped playing with a friend who refused to keep playing a game where my first two turns were huge (I'm not that good...he could have still beat me)...its no fun playing with a bad sport.

It's like the kids I used to play monompoly with who used to stop playing as soon as they were about to lose...

    What'd you drink?

I used TJ's Vintage Ale to help numb the annoying effects of my wife's family. Tastes great too!
