I'm reading about prehistoric megalithic architecture in Europe and now have a burning desire to go to Brittany.

30 was just another day. Still had most of my hair so I was happy as a clam.

40 has seen a limited amount of whimpering offset by two remarkably sedate mid-life crises.

I was in grad school, and close to finishing when I turned 30. My future seemed very bright at the time, so turning 30 didn't concern me at all.

I had read some GQ (yeah I know) years ago, I was probably about 18 - but the article was a survey of men and how they felt about life. I don't remember all the details but surprisingly there was a point for the 27 year olds where most said they felt better about life and were in better financial straits than they'd expected to be 5 years prior to that.... and so that stayed on my mind for years afterwards.

30... I feel pretty good. I haven't got a fucken clue about what life will be like at 40, 50, maybe 60 - but I've made it through some tough times in life and still gotten ahead, so I have hope.

30 was kind of a relief for me. I wasn't suddenly old and my future was still ahead of me. Late 20s were the worst time in my life so far. Each year of my 30s has been better than the last. I'm a big advocate of being in your 30s.

Edina: Cute pic. Pets so improve our quality of life.

Since about the age of 33 each year has gotten geometrically superior to the prior year. You get on the wrong side of 40 and wonder how things could get better, but if all the stars are aligned, they do. Happier, richer, more in love with life and my wife every year. It's actually pretty damn amazing.

I hope this is true for you too. It's really just about finding that right person to share your life with and getting comfortable with who you are and where you're headed in life. I could wax philosophical (I have just enough booze into me to do so) but won't. It's just being happy with who you are, who you're with, and where you're at.
