I had a really good track workout this morning. I mean, unusually good, not just in terms of times and recoveries, but also considering that I've started loading up on mileage and - given the past 3 days' runs - wasn't expecting much. But, I got out there and banged them out pretty quickly, and it rained and that was great as well (ipod doesn't like rain much, but fuck it). The aches and pains vanished, and I took the long route home to start the day.

Now I'm walking like an 80-year old, but fuck it.

Although I guess I have never understood why you get 200 feet of awesome walkway but then there is another half mile of straight empty hallways where they have neglected to install moving walkways so you are stuck dragging your crap along.

And as handy as the orange line is...i'm sitting on the mpls light rail which kicks the cta's ass

Yeah, but CTA is way more comprehensive than is MPLS.

Also, at MDW, I love how they have those heated water pipes above the walkway to keep you warm while walking that path in the winter.

Started floating trial balloons to my compensation committee over the last week. Not only has my organization had its single best year ever, I've a couple of game changing, mega-deals in the works. One of them is locked down and as done a deal as you can get without it actually being done. The other is looking good and I'll have final thumbs up or down 12/15. So I started floating out an override on my bonus structure...I mean, really swinging for the bleachers. Based on the feedback, I think old Piob is going to get the biggest bonus of his life. Should have that tied down by 12/2. I could well be partying like a rock star 12/3. :slayer:

Oh, of course. I like the light rail and all of the other directions the city is taking with public and bike transit, but if I were to move back here permanently, I can't see not buying a car. My knowledge is limited (I've never really looked at rental housing costs in detail) but while there are a few places where you could live conveniently without a car, someone who lives in most of those places could probably also afford a car or could live in a less expensive area and then be able to easily afford a car.

Whereas in Chicago I feel perfectly fine not owning a car and relying on zipcar/Hertz when I really need one...In other neighborhoods it might be different but for large parts of the city, the CTA and a bicycle are all you need.

I'm only working about eight hours tomorrow, or in other words, a short day. That makes me happy, but because tomorrow is a short day, after I split our nightly bottle of wine with Mrs. Piob, I've had about 12 oz of whisky. :slayer:
