OMG, I have been struck by happiness!!!!!!
I've moved to a hi rise after living in a home for many years and I'm beginning to get used to it.
I was in the lobby today and I saw a little old lady ( literally she's 4' 10" tall ).
I started talking to her and I realized that she is perhaps the most remarkable person I have ever met!
She is an 84 year old concentration camp survivor. There are not a lot of these people left and she is one of the few in Houston.
Her story was mind boggling, She was raised in Sarajevo and was taken to the camps in 1942. She was liberated by the allies at the end of the war and by that time had lost her entire family. After the war she lived in Europe for 4 years and then went to Israel. She stayed in Israel for 11 years and then emigrated to the US.
She speaks 6 languages, still drives, uses a cell phone and to top all, she loves computers and Email. My major in college was history and we talked a long time. She has a sense of humor so I asked her if she remembered the first World
War ( which happened before she was born ). She said of course not, but that her mother had told her about WW1 many times. AAMOF she said, her mother had been in Sarajevo when Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assasinated and WW1 started!!!
All of this is true. I won't put her name up here but I think she might let me start a thread for those that are interested in history. I said that I would like to take her for breakfast or lunch and she said sure, as long as it is Kosher. I will be taking her out this week. To me she is a national treasure.
holy shit dude, that is awesome! little old lady sounds so interesting. I've always wanted to speak to someone who was around during the second world war, but I've never met anyone and I feel as if they wouldn't want to discuss it.
I thought this would be a "haha, you got rejected video"
edit- what was she saying?
Just finished writing some CSS code for a website im working on. Im pumped because I was struggling with it earlier but finally broke through. 2.5 hours before I wake up for work
