today has been a horrific shitty week but a few bright spots:
    a. dog still has an unknown mass, but the vets are fairly sure it's not metastatic cancer or the type of carcinoma that we feared (which is invariably lethal). also found a really cheap surgery option if we need to get it removed, but should know more next week after another exam to see if the mass has grown/shrunk.
    b. taking a class right now which is basically 'write a 25 to 30 page paper.' rough draft was due last week and got some really excellent feedback.. only need to make minor pagers. probably going to be submitting this to several conferences too.

    Great news!

Just make sure you sharpen your x-acto knife a bunch before cutting into your pooch, and don't forget to sterlize!

I got a letter from the IRS telling me that they owe me $1,800 due to over-payment of Social Security. :slayer::slayer::slayer:

the local classic rock station here plays only accoustic songs on sunday morning. i dont general listen to it, but i happened to tune in today on the way to work. it was a very relaxing and mellow way to start the day. it was very cool.

also i get to duck out of work for a few hours today for my daughters birthday party :slayer:

Great day with Mrs. Piob and friends yesterday. Tailgate from 11-5 (brisket was a huge hit) and then run home to change and out to our season tickets at a local theatre company with another couple. Today, a mixer for a local VIP then a quiet dinner with just Mrs. Piob at one of our places. Also, just planned a good Friday night next week with two other couples. They've never been to our main wine place and we're introducing them to it.

The video from the Press Your Luck show, when Michael Larson showed up and beat them at their own game because he had memorized the patterns. There's an hour long documentary on youtube about this also, and it's quite entertaining. Great story - up until after he wins and then his life spirals into divorce, theft, running from the IRS and throat cancer.

apropos of nothing, I just want to say that I love doing business. Meeting people, making deals, building business relationships...It's all so exciting and satisfying. I only wish I hadn't spent so much of my life working at jobs instead of doing this.

Hey Alter, what wonderful news for you and your family. I'm very happy for you.

It's been a few beautiful fall days in a row, and today they are beginning to install the kitchen cabinets at my new house. :slayer: In fact, I'm leaving the office shortly to go "oversee" things; e.g. go over and essentially drool and giggle with pleasure.
