I had a great couple of work weeks - we had some VIPs visit the factory last week from two places, and both visits achieved what I wanted them to. these visits are pretty eleborate and choreographed affairs with maybe a dozen people from my company involved. one involved a trip by stretch limo for almost 5 hours, and taking 10 people to a pro-hockey game.

this week I ran a sales conference that had more than 50 people in attendance from 20 or so countries, that had about 30 seperate lectures and several meals out at nice resteraunts. everything went perfectly. most of the people in my company thought that this would fuck up, the plan seemed very alien, and they didn't understand what I was trying to achieve. everyone of the doubters came to me afterward and told me how impressed they were.

right afterward, my counterpart who is in charge of the domestic market had a similar meeting that he planned and ran. his was much, much weaker. so much so that a few of the people who attended both asked what they had to do to get on my team.

    it was a great week.

Following Globe's footsteps and receiving an award at my office at the end of the month. There may be a bonus involved too.

Also had my performance review with my boss a few weeks ago. 3rd improvement in a row and got the maximum bonus (half of last year thanks to budget woes). Feel indifferent because don't think I've done so great not sure what to think. Ain't complaining though.

It turns out we can exchange 3 vacation days for a $500 reduction in health care premiums, or 6 days for a $1K reduction. I am glad this option exists because our premiums will definitely be going up. :(

I would give up all of my vacation days for cash if I could. We got an email telling us our premiums will be going up this year "significantly". We will see what that turns out to be...

Yeah. Mine went up already this year. Granted, I still pay little ($32 biweekly) but it's irritating.

I hear you. Being single I pay a notch over $100 a month for the best plan. I just can't help but look at it as the company cutting my salary.

Usually you need to work hard to merit a promotion. Lucky for you, you're working for the state government. This will come easy as you are literate, have a bachelors degree, and know how to use simple office tools such as MS Excel.
