I've been to Plattsburgh, which is just across Lake Champlain from Burlington, and points further north in the dead of winter. It is terrible. I figured that I was used to the cold as I live in Albany, but hell no. It's really not fun.

Burlington is a cool city. Not sure about the money thing though. There is probably a concentration of wealth there but Vermont on the whole is a pretty poor state.

This is exactly what the cheese cartels co-operatives want you to think.

imatlas -- hope your father recovers quickly. Sounds bad and we're thinking of you.

Lawrence, Vermont is 96% white, so I would spend a little time there before you move as it's apt to get a little stale I would think. Then there's the whole "trees turning colour" season and Vermont becomes 110% white.

Dad turned the corner yesterday - they took out the breathing tube yesterday and hopefully the chest drains will come out today or tomorrow. Pneumonia and clots are still causes for concern, but at least he isn't dying from his injuries.

One of his riding buddies visited him yesterday (also in his 70s) and I told the guy I hold him responsible-and that's was before I found out that's he'd also fallen and broken a ribs a few days after my dad.

Couple of knuckleheads if you ask me.

Thanks guys. I have to say, Santa Fe is every bit as beautiful as I've always heard. I'm looking forward to visiting under better circumstances.
