Piob, glad to hear the eyes are under control. I had an exam a year or so back and have, ahem, not yet scheduled this year's exam. I should, at least partly because I'd like to get new glasses.

    ...

A number of things are making me happy (alongside the usual frustrations) - the following one was really really minor but set the tone for the day thus far: I used to have a few nice pens a few years back, and I stopped using them for some strange reason. Anyway, about a month ago I started looking for them but could not find a single one! This morning I was pulling things together and found one of them on a shelf in our closet :slayer:

Was it buried underneath the 25 other pens you weren't looking for?

No, actually, though it was alongside a few dispoasbles, making me think I had emptied my pockets one day in 2009 and forgot about it. Anyway, I took it, made sure it still wrote, and then put it away - but God help me I can't remember where that was now. :(

Have you checked under the 25 pens in your desk drawer? How about under the 25 pens in your closet? Or under the 25 pens on your work bench in the garage? Maybe under that stash of 25 pens you keep inside your lucky pair of running shoes from 1992?

I had a really nice day yesterday - got up early and smoked a couple of briskets. we had about 20 people for dinner and one of the things we made was smoked brisket. watching meat smoke for 8 hours is a nice way to think about your past year and the future year, and then we had a nice dinner party with some nice enough people.

Hellish week of moving overseas now finished. Had to pack and carry 23 large boxes to the post office, being delivered today already (18 hr ship time)

My dog flew like a champ and successfully went through Japan quarantine without a hitch. I got to fly in the upper deck of the 747, which is something I've wanted to do for 25 years. On internet already, gas just got turned on.

New apartment is fun, tri-level loft in a cool neighborhood. Decent design for an Asian apartment, got some fun ahead of us for decorating it and organizing our living spaces. Looks like I get a den of my own, of sorts.

On Yahoo! JP auctions right now trying to cop a cheap fridge and washing machine, prices are not as bad as one would think. Will probably be able to get all the appliances I need for my house (and I need to buy all of them) including a 40"+ TV for about a grand I think.

Going to a furniture store that is going out of business to see if they have any Wegner chairs and tables in walnut for their advertised 60% off.

Cleared Blackwing in 2.5 hours. Got two epic pieces for a healing set (not than I plan to create a healing off-spec but didn't want to see them sharded).

Finally submitted the last piece of work for my MSc. It shouldn't have taken long, just a four page 'executive summary' of the dissertation I finished almost a month ago but I had an almost physical sensation of revulsion every time I tried to look at it or think of it. All done now though which is a massive relief.

I am not sure when I technically graduate, but I am essentially no longer a student. Better find a job I suppose.
