a friend of mine, who I haven't seen in 6 or 7 years, came to town. we are friends going back to 14,and we were pretty good friends for 20 years or so, till we both moved to the states. he is a doctor and med school prof at one of the top teaching hospitals in the states now. it was really great to catch up. I have a lot of guys I know who I can have a beer with, but the 4 guys who were really good friends that I had in Israel, guys I've known since I was a teenager and lived through the army, university and our 20's with, you can't replace that.

Moving out from home and into a sweet little subpenthouse apartment with a friend this weekend!

Also recently met a girl and we've really been hitting it off. I was hoping to stay single and make good use of the new bachelor pad, but I'm not too disappointed.

I like those moments, where you have to make a split decision and just roll with it. Very cool muchaco de acido.

just got back from a weekend trip to Montreal.... I had a rare whole weekend off so we did the 7hour drive from brooklyn.

the weather was great and the wife and I brought bikes. I'm really happy about how bike friendly montreal is... you can tell if a place is bike friendly when you see the majority of people riding around without helmets and going about their business.

the ride up to Parc du Mount-Royal was actually pretty tough. the actual ride up inside the park was OK, but the city streets leading up to the park were steep as hell.

    Plus I got a cool T-shirt for a souvenier.....

a couple things I noticed in my 3 visits to Montreal:

-there are a LOT of pretty white girls... not superduper hot, but really consistently pretty
-people are thinner (probably because of the walking and biking)
-it always surprises me about how French everyone is... in the sense that they most often have heavy french accents (I know its a "no shit sherlock" observation but its still weird to think that 30miles away you're in upstate NY or inland Canada and its back to north american english speakers).

their french accents aren't the same as a true frenchman, but yes their women are stupendous. the average girl there is considered hot in another place. also, they have those cute ass fucking dimples that get me every time. and their cute way of speaking english. damn, I'm going back lol

OMG forgive the old-geek alert but on a whim I broke out my old HP 11c calculator and found that it still works. Then I dugout my 12c calculator and decided to use it for an exam this evening.

One underrated feature of the hp-10 series: the reverse polish notation made sure no one would ever walk away with your calculator - or if they did, they quickly returned it!

finished my fiscal year today, which means I get my maximum possible bonus, making me the higherst paid person of my rank in my company.

also, lost 4 pounds in the past 2 weeks.

    Congrats on both accounts.

Amazes me since you mentioned you lost well over 100 over a span of two years and still continue to do so.

Just nailed a presentation, and it's a great feeling. I haven't had much sleep at all since traveling on Saturday thus, I was very concerned about bombing. Now if I can just make it through the remainder of today's meetings and get some sleep tonight.
