^ I had no idea you had kids
yup, 3 actually. but the baby didnt come toy shopping. just the older 2.
I was laid off today. At first I was pretty bummed, but right now I'm halfway giddy about it. I guess that leaves me with what, 3 stages I haven't touched on? Make that two stages: I'm pissed, too - there was malfeasance at the top involving fudged numbers and outright theft, and about 25% of the company was laid off today as a result.
that's just horrible. we've lost a huge chunk of our workforce because of two incredibly ill-advised corporate takeover attempts. when good folks get let go because of other people's mistakes and greed, it's awful. and let's not get started on the walking-away money for the executives involved.
Does he know about SF?
There's a bit of poetic justice involved - let's just say the CEO was on a path that had the potential to make him a billionaire, and has burned that bridge but good. I'm pretty sure they're clawing back about $50K from what he embezzled, as well (the overall amount stolen was in the low $100Ks).
That's what has me pretty well baffled - he traded a skyrocketing career as CEO of the star company in the premier VC firm's portfolio, for a home gym and a trip to Tahiti? Dumbfuck.
they say love is blind. greed even more so.
but more importantly sorry about your job. i lost a job about 4 years ago in similar fashion and it sucks. good luck and i hope you find something bigger and better.
Love is all you need, IS.

Don't let me down, Stitch
Good luck on the job hunt Atlas. If the world gets on your shoulders, just shrug it off.
Do you at least get to spend a few months on your ass with a sweet ass severance package?
Track down the fuckers responsible and form a devious plan to take ALL their stuff. (don't get caught and don't ever brag about it).
Jeeez, I'm sorry to hear this and hope you find a better role.
Today marks one year since baby girl came to us. Tomorrow we go to court in hopes of clearing the first major hurdle towards adoption and maybe getting even further along.
