    ^ very nice.

    ++++++

    today's my dad's birthday... we never really became close and I've learned to accept that we will never be, and we probably won't be shooting the breeze in our lifetime, but our relationship has been pretty good for the past few months and we sort of respect each other's space and opinions. for a guy his age, who can drink like a sailor and haven't had an exercise regimen since I was a kid, he's pretty healthy.

    Hey, congrats FLMM!

    Acid, glad to know family stuff is on an even keel for you at the moment.

    I know it gets boring to hear but life is just good. KIttens are becoming very affectionate pets each with their own little quirky personality. Mrs. Piob is doting on them and very happy. My second in command's three week vacation enters its last week today and I'm happy as I'm tired of dealing with his direct reports and his scope of authority!

    Lastly, that mega (for me) deal should get inked this week with a big news release in the local press. As I've said, the successful completion of this project (which will take a couple of years) will just about guarantee me a contract for life and end up being my legacy.

    Life, she be good.

    Piob--POST THE LINK WHEN TO THE NEWS STORY.

    So, I am housesitting for my cousin and I tell you i am like St. Francis of Assisi up there. They have this one dog that is dumber than all get out who just freakin loves me to death, seriously he never leaves me. One other dog who likes me and is usually with me, and two of the three cats are usually trailing me. Last night one of them kept pawing me and purring while on my chest.

    so yesterday I had a moment that it didn't hit me until now kind of what it meant.

    Got this press release, a big organization's annual report came out. While most stories just reported that it came out, I was able to make some news about it, other than here is the report. Some really strong quotes were in the statements and I got a pretty good story out of it, that no one else had. Not pulitzer-worthy or anything but it was just one of those things where it is like, yeah, I'm starting to "get this". Which is good because I've been doing it for years.

    Rube, very happy for you. Not only that your daughter is moving in but that you are in the position to buy a house. Great stuff.

    On a related note, we put our vacant lot up for sale a few months ago. Just got an offer that might actually turn into a deal. While we really wanted to build our dream house, the reality of the local RE market is that it would cost stupid money for the next 10 years, and we can come out way ahead buying a suitable foreclosure or short sale in the next 36 months. We might even end up with a bigger and better place for the same price we originally thought we'd spend on the Piob Palace.

    So I'm hoping this offer turns into a deal.
