1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

It was placed in a stack inside a wardrobe, together with a bunch of other books.

The embarrassing part is that its a book written by a friend and I had also forgotten he had written a book. :embar:

A drinking establishment in which one can play the game of shuffleboard, which has long been the butt of jokes as supposedly being only for geriatrics--which game thus affords the possible kinds of late-capitalist pleasures for younger patrons:

    a) amusement that one is playing what has been long mocked as an old-person's game
b1) realization that shuffleboard is actually fun, in which an ironic framework houses non-ironic enjoyment, or
b2) realization that shuffleboard really isn't any fun at all, which can lead to:
c1) dogged commitment to playing a not-fun game in the name of irony, or
c2) renunciation of ironic enjoyment (i.e., nobody actually plays the shuffleboard), which will never be a complete renunciation at all insofar as the object of irony is still present as a kind of untransmuted lump (quoting C.S. Lewis completely out of context) in the middle of the bar

I'm not sure if it's the tabletop version of shuffleboard or the cruise ship/retirement community version. I'll have to do some more recon.

Relatedly - there's a bar I frequent in LA that has similar games you can play - cornhole, jumbo version of jenga, etc. Pretty fun when you have a group of friends and just having some beers. (its in a converted warehouse, so not a typical bar - more "room for activities")

My friend opened up a microbrewery that sounds exactly like this. Except the entire brewing operation is visible from the cornholing area

Don't worry about it. It's on a need to know basis for those in the Inner Circle such as meself.

Being on the inner circle of anything Reddit isn't something to be proud of.

Man, I want some more of that (but I definitely don't want to pay for it).

Kind of silly that I gotta pay money to be able to see which posts were new since the last time I looked at a thread...that's the only Gold feature I use.
