1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

$39,000,000 of which was federal money.

Things that are funnier than the jokes Yankees made about us when it all went down: The fact that we got them to help pay for the very ineptitude they mocked.

    Thanks, guys!

Well, that's what happens when you're the aggressive, mechanized bully who invades a peaceful, bucolic sovereign nation and ruthlessly rapes and pillages it. You owe us.

Also, Texas was on our team.

Bucolic is an odd word. It makes me think of horse colic, which is decidedly unpleasant.

It's one of those words that doesn't sound to me like what it means. I like that type of apparent incongruity, though it's not a word I use often.

Restive is definitely a bad word. -ive indicates a quality so you would think it means restful. Restless actually makes sense and means about the same thing as restive.

Just saw a post on FB that pointed out a Germany vs. Argentina World Cup turns this into the Popes Cup.

so i just got in trouble for one of the websites I write for for sending too many emails to our internal chat line. Its slightly embarassing but also amusing that I am always a gross over-sender of emails. It doesn't help that I get 200-300 emails a day for work so its hard for me to go "ok I am sending a lot of email."

314 million people in the US, of which 53% pay taxes (according to Willard Romney), so 39 million divided by 166 million equals 23 cents/person. Totally worth my quarter to mercilessly mock Atlanta's haplessness for a solid week.

I always laugh at the pay taxes numbers, as they count government employee who essentially don't generated any cash flow, but pay taxes of an income payed out by tax money.

Someone made a calculation here and it turns out in a country of 5.5 million, less than a million people generated the entire tax renevue, the rest are in some way payed by the government or children.

Aren't those kinds of distributions really caused by income inequality? Don't know your tax code but in the US that's the case, which is funny because it seems like everyone thinks the rich don't pay enough taxes
