Umm...that's not a weird resolution. That's 1080p, aka hdtv, aka every single god damned monitor you can buy even though you used to be able to buy 15 inch laptops with higher resolution displays 10+ years ago.

sorry i was wrong 2048 x 1152 is the resolution of the 23" samsung monitors i use. I bought one in 2009 on sale and then another when I confirmed they were compatible as external monitors with my MBP.

its weird because the settings don't have that resolution but when you connect them the 2048 x 1152 resolution option eventually shows up on the imaging/display options (even though its not an option beforehand and isn't officially supported according to the geniuses and apple people).

also awesome for porn on the one monitor tilted away from everyone

You win, two monitors of a decent size beat one large monitor anyday.

Got a homemade card from my good friend's daughter, who is Little Miss Canuker's best friend, inside it simply said "Thank you for loving me!" Sweetest card ever :)

For those using multi monitors, what is your program of choice for emulating the start menu and more importantly, the tool bar With the open programs hang out?

I have found that actual multiple monitors (that's the name of the program) works really great.

I also orientate my start menu(s) on the sides of the screen, as opposed to the s bottom - left monitor is the main, has a start menu on the far left, right monitor is the secondary, has a start menu on the far right.

Works great for me. Oh, I use dual 24" Dells - plus a 40" Samsung LED for presentation purposes (ok watching golf and cnbc and march madness).

Why would you need two start menus and two lists of open programs? I only need to see that crap once. (and I rarely touch the start menu between pinned apps and using Launchy).

Start menu goes on the 22" widescreen (although its on the bottom...I can do side-menus on OSX but for some reason I hate how it looks on windows). Right hand screen (the 5:4 ratio one) is 100% available to whatever I put over there. full page PDFs are perfectly legible thanks to the extra height it provides over a widescreen display, and my email lives over there at all times (which also looks better on a not-widescreen).

I suppose I could try to step to one of the 24" screens we have, but my current screne is 16:10 and the 24s are all 16:9...so I lose some vertical resolution in exchange for a wider screen.

I don't use any program... At work where I have 3 19" monitors, I keep my start menu on the bottom of the left monitor. At home, I have one 19" on the left and a 24" on the right. There, I keep my start menu on the left of the 19" monitor on the left.

I don't use a program at all. The one of the right is dedicated to my email, the center is what I am working on, atm, and the far left is for Style Forum. ;)

Oh how quaint, you thought you were in the IC just because you got the monitor

I've got the dedicated Styleforum terminal...it gives you a dedicated SF keyboard with color coding and shortcuts to often used subfora.
