I've spent the past two weeks, about 3 hours aday, on a project to improve my task managment. I was struggling to keep up with the little things - I am great with making sure that we take care of the big things, but a number of small things fall through the cracks every month, and those small things turn big when neglected and cause me no end of grief. I read about a dozen books on techniques in the past two weeks and have totally changed my computer/iphone/ipad desk tops and how my outlook/calendar/task managers work. I am relaly hoping that will help.

on top of that, my wife and kids and I spend maybe 20 hours in the past couple of weeks working on the house, organizing and getting rid of shit we don't need. my wife has taken on a commitment to try to keep the house organized. this would make me happier than yo ucan imagine.

    lets see how we do

the good news is after about 18-26 years you can start spending the $ on yourself again. Provided it's not already spoken for by your wife.

    congratulations!

Thanks everyone. I am really surprised it actually happened and pretty much on the correct time track. Many of my friends have jumped ship at whatever firm they are with and will never have a shot. Those that have stuck it out (and told it was a matter of time) are still waiting. I feel really fortunate.

For those of us without access to airport lounges, Vino Volo is kind of a godsend.

Z, could you recommend one or two of those books? Ones that focus on basic office organization would be best. I've never been great at organization and already I feel kind of lost at the new job.

Learning more about optimizing Outlook/other apps would be helpful.

Got a call from my boss today--she wanted to let me know much I earned the other night. Since the majority of my work was done at night on a holiday, I was getting paid roughly 3X what I normally would. In effect, I was making around $80 an hour. :satisfied:

Good stuff, Piob. As to weight, I ended up losing a few pounds even though I ate and drank well. My hotel had a good gym that I used daily, and I found a couple of yoga studios within walking distance where I practiced yoga at one of them daily. Walking everywhere helped, too; only got a taxi once during my eight days in NY.

    Lost a pound over December.

Speakers broke, managed to fix them with a screwdriver and a hair dryer :slayer:
