I scored free tickets to the Bridge School Benefit from work, decent seats no less. If you're not familiar with it, the BSB is pretty much a small scale music festival that's been run annually for close to 30 years, benefiting a local school for severely handicapped kids. It's organized by Neil Young and his wife so they have no trouble getting top name acts - yesterday's lineup included Heart, .fun, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello & Diana Krall, My Morning Jacket, Neil Young and CSNY. It was a killer show, even though we left before Tom Waits and CSNY. Heart really rocked it, .fun sucked, and MMJ was solid. MMJ, Neil Young and Jennifer Lewis sang "Oh! Sweet Nuthin'" in memory of Lou Reed and killed it.

I am thumbing your post for saying that .fun sucked.

How was Elvis? I saw him a few years ago and it was one of the better shows I've been to.

He was unmemorable, and I'm a fan. Still, it was cool to see him live for the first time.

    a) weather on the walk home was nowhere near as bad as forecasted.
    b) awesomely productive day in all respects, but especially regarding this insane project I'm working on, that's a presentation on the prosepectus of the paper I'm planning to turn into my thesis because if this hunch works out I may be in line for a doctorate..
    c) going to Sweden, which means not in Copenhagen, and also, new country.

    WOOT!!

How did this turn out? Also, have you ever tried using condensed milk? I bet it would be tastier.

I'm going to try to make some horchata this weekend.

These sound like the worst. You're spending hours schmoozing and rubbing noses and you can't even get ratchet drunk!

    Fuck that noise.

Too much almond...tasted like it was made with almond milk. I'm going to go back to a 1:1 almond:rice ratio. Also, I used sushi rice instead of long grain rice which might have made a difference.

The news loved it, all they talked about for half a day (mid windspeed 87mph and max gust 121mph), with idiots dumb enough to cycling around.

    Nice, when and where.

Here is the story of me getting pulled over this morning:

Cop - ""Is there any reason why you are driving like a giant asshole?"

Me - "I am late to work and I am mad at this horrible traffic."

Cop - "Look, I get it, I also drive like an asshole. But I don't drive like an asshole when there's a marked cop car right behind me. Could you do me a favor and at least not drive like an asshole when there is a marked police car right behind you?"

    Me - "sure, no problem"

Then she got back in her car and left.

    :)

every year, this one admin takes out these awful looking fake rats as a nod to Halloween approaching. I took one, bought some thin white sewing string, tied the string to the rat, placed the rat on a shelf in the pantry fridge, then tied the string to the inside of the fridge door.

    now, I wait.
