If you know how to dial in a grinder, pre-ground will always taste worse then freshly grinded beans.

How can they be exact if you don't know they'll fit?

I mean the exact style, color, etc...

I've never had a pair before so I'm not positive of their sizing.

had dinner at daniel with my favorite lady.

halfway through dinner woody allen and his wife-daughter walk in with two friends.

some time later daniel boulud himself comes in and starts talking with the french speaking table next to us. i tried very hard to stare.

service was honestly some of the best if not the best i've ever received. our waiter asked us what brought us here and we casually mentioned it was a self indulgence that we saved up for and a kind of congratulations for finishing a semester and they gave us an extra dessert of apple sorbet and something with congratulations written on it. i also like that they gave us the menu for that day. the other parts of the service were perfect and perfectly coordinated and the timing of the meals was just superb. its like they telepathically know what you're thinking

some of the best food i've ever had. i am quite happy

Sounds like you had a great time, ID. Glad to hear staff helped make a special meal even more special. That's what it's supposed to be all about.

Had a great evening at one of our usual spots. The somm's wife is due any second and he's just beaming (it's their first). I brought along a Kosta Browne and he popped a couple bottles for us he's been wanting to try. Had a nice bit of nosh, chef sent out this awesome "hot and cold plate" that had buffalo carpaccio as the "cold" protein and foie gras as the "hot." We were sitting at the wine bar, and had been chatting with another couple that were in their mid-late 20s, and had been giving them pours out of the various bottles we were popping. They were quite impressed, in a very earnest/cute way, when the chef came out with the two off menu plates for us. The guy said he hopes they can be like us when they grow up. Glad they enjoyed their pours as they said it was the best wine they've ever had.

^^ Why does it always seems to me that Woody Allen is everywhere in NYC? :)

    ^ Piobaire, that's quite cool.

Instead of dinner I just had the most insane WF score:

Properly happy to be leaving for vacation tomorrow; three weeks in Thailand is exactly what I need having been working 7 days a week for the last 6 months. Just itching to get on that plane....

Glad your evening turned out so well. Daniel's is one of my favorites, I've always had consistently good service and food there.

Just took a nice, hot shower after volunteering at a local childcare facility for lower income kids. I built a storage shed, moved a shit ton of boxes into said storage shed, laid down the framework for a small garden, spread the soil/mulch, and assembled some tables for kids.

Was fucking EXHAUSTING, especially considering the fact I walked home hammered last night for two hours and got home at 4 AM. But regardless, I'm glad it's Saturday -- gonna hit up a brand new Peruvian restaurant that opened up recently with some coworkers and get hammered, AGAIN!

Conversation with a woman who is slowly opening a door I need to go through in my condo building:

Woman: Oh I'm sorry, I did not see you behind me.
Me: That is because your eyes are on the front side of you.

Just found a lost dog wandering near a major intersection - we're lucky the poor thing didn't get run over. I've posted a couple "found" ads on Kijiji and have contacted the local humane society. We've nicknamed her Lilly and she is very docile and friendly :). I've made sure to not include her description in the ad so there's no imposter owners claiming her.

I'm posting this here because I know how shitty it is to lose a pet; hopefully I am able to make somebody's Christmas by returning their dog safe and sound. My GF just finished school for the holidays so she will be able to be a foster parent for awhile at least.

Can anyone comment on the breed? I don't know anything about dogs, and my girlfriend is stumped too.
