1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I am not an A's fan, but those gorgeous striped stirrups with the yellow sanitaries certainly make me happy. They wore those this weekend.

^stirrups and sanitaries are things that you feel ridiculous putting on - but the end result is nice. They actually have long socks that have the faux stirrup patterns (I hope to god that the A's didn't wear the fake stirrups).

I helped an old lady carry this ikea dresser thing into her house. I don't know how she managed to get it into her car but the thing in the box weighed easily 120lbs. It was this weird size where I couldn't get an arm around it securely.

Then I remembered how tiny 120lbs filipino porters lift more than their own weight - they prop it onto their backs and bend over 40º and use their legs/ass to power it. I managed to get the box up a flight of stairs pretty easily but cold feel it in my knees and ass afterwards. I also attribute a hot assed spicy thai meal for getting me through this miserable assed hot/humid day and that unexpected manual labor.

I just received an e-mail advertising the "Grand Reopening" of a bank's ATM. For some reason, that just seems funny to me.

went to Robeks to get a smoothie and on my way home I noticed that the girl who made it wrote her number on the cup for me.

also looking forward to state track champs this weekend since I set a new PR on my flying kilo and I have a good shot at winning

Did you buy his CD of songs from the American songbook? I did. (TIm McCarver is beloved in the STL because of his exploits.)

Tim McCarver just characterized Mariano Rivera as "a man who has never received criticism of any kind." I love it!

I think it would be the equivalent of a 4.0 if they used the gpa system

So, I don't know about "happy," but this did make me laugh:

(Background: I am half-Asian on my mom's side]

Last night, our daughter grabbed a round straw placemat that we had on the dining table and put it on her head so that it vaguely resembled a conical coolie hat, like you see in the rice paddies. She said to me, "Hey Daddy, I look like I'm from [grandmother]'s country!"

So yeah, my four year old made a racial stereotype joke. About her grandmother.
